Hello beautiful BP community.

My wife and I are looking for a STR on the Oregon or Washington coast to use as a vacation home / STR (mostly STR, but for the loan sake its a vacation property). Wondering if anyone has any experience in any of the following cities? I would appreciate any insight, we live in Seattle, so all of these are within 4ish hours if we needed to make it over.

Ocean Shores, WA.

Westport Wa.

Long Beach WA.

Seaside, OR.

Cannon Beach, OR.

Oceanside OR.

and Lincoln City Oregon.

We have visited all of these towns personally and often take road trips on the weekends. Appreciate any insight and help, and excited to connect :)

Hi Blake, the place to starting the vacation rental search is knowing which markets are heavily regulated and which are more friendly for vacation rental permits. Right away, Cannon Beach is not an option if you want a property to help pay for itself at all, their regulations greatly reduce revenue. Seaside and Lincoln City are the top two markets on the Oregon Coast but have some challenges around regulations. Oceanside is OK but underperforms due to a lack of infrastructure vacation rental guests enjoy nearby, the beach is hard to get to as well. I'd recommend adding Rockaway Beach to your OR. Coast list.

I'm not licensed in Washington so don't know those markets as well, but I'm pretty sure those are the top 3 WA. Coast markets. I have a colleague who could assist you in a hunt for an STR in those markets.

I'd be happy to give you more insights into what you need to know to find a vacation rental on the Oregon Coast if you want to private message me and we could schedule a time to chat.
