Minut Cigarette Smoke/Noise monitor

We have been using this since late Dec. 2023 (so not as much time as others here may have). It's been great as a noise monitor (and I can also see temperature readings which are verifiable and solid). However, I'm unsure with regard to the cigarette smoke monitor. First, it took over a month to activate/set up the cigarette smoke detection. When I talked to Minut about this, they said they might update the language to reflect it can take longer to establish a baseline. (And if you think they'll update the language, I have a bridge to sell you...)

Next, it has triggered occasionally and we send out a reminder that we are a smoke-free property which usually works. However, on a few occasions, where we give the reminder and it still triggers? The guests insist no one smokes but they did grill. So, now we're unsure as to the sensitivity and accuracy (except for the context that we've grilled heavily at the property and never triggered it). Unless a guest smokes regularly or heavily, our ventilation and air filtration is such that our cleaners have not yet alerted us to undeniable smoking, etc.

Would love to hear what others use and their experiences with Minut as well (since in part, I went with Minut based on what I read here about the other alternative- NoiseAware).

    I cannot speak to Minut, but had good previous experience with NoiseAware if anyone is looking for something to compare Minut to.

    I am curious about the Minut as well. It seems to be the best choice overall due to the various sensors it has.

    It is interesting about the smoke sensor.

    I love the MInut sensor. Given that it's synced with my PMS to automatically send SMS messages to the booking guest when sound levels get above the quiet hours thresholds I've set, it's been terrific.

    I haven't had any issues with the smoke sensor, so far. Guests have been good about obeying the smoking outside rule.

    The other feature I like a lot is it will track how many smart devices are in the building based on the number of sync signals it detects. This is a separate method besides using my WiFi router to monitor how many people may be in the house since we have a "no parties" rule. It's not 100% accurate because one person might have a smartphone and one or two tablets, but it's one more data point that helps me keep tabs on my owners' properties.

    I know NoiseAware had Wi-Fi connecting issues in the last 6 months, but that may be resolved now. Minut seem to be connecting and staying connected to Wi-Fi better. They also have the smoke detector nailed down better.... Last I checked NoiseAware was still in beta for smoke.

    I installed Minut senors in May (living room + master bedroom). The monitoring of temperature, humidity, and noise is great. The cigarette detection, I'm still unsure about. I got my first positive a couple guests ago--or was it? I very nicely asked the guest and he said it was smoke from cooking. I have reasons to trust that guest and his report, and we came the next day after they checked out and didn't smell cigarette smoke. I got another positive the next week, but I am not sure if I can trust it. The Minut alerts themselves seem to admit of ambiguity: declaring "elevated risk" of cigarette smoke. Maybe I need my cleaner to light up outside, walk in with smokey clothes, and see if that sets it off. I would be interested in whether others have had instances where Minut flagged an elevated risk of cigarette smoke, but you have reason to believe there wasn't actually any. And maybe all of this technology is not an exact science.

    I used to have about 20 of them. The month subscription fees made the product not viable. I would only recommend if there is noise regulation in the areas and you need evidence to show. It tracks all previous data and allows you to export to CSV. Outside of the that the monthly cost was more then the value provided.
