Short term rental laws

I know that some areas aren’t as welcoming to short term rentals. Does anyone know the best way to check and see if an area allows it? Please let me know. About to start my research and begin pulling the thread on short term rentals

Google it, and if you can’t find it that way call the local building/legal department.
