About The Speaker: After graduating from San Francisco State University with a major in English Literature, Derek took a job as a school teacher. When he decided that being a school teacher was not for him, Derek worked construction learning the various construction trades. After a few years working the trades, he quit his job and began remodeling houses. Through many rehabs he began to find his niche. Over the years Derek has embraced education and helpful advice from his mentors and has learned to specialize in micro-niches, creating opportunities where few were looking. Derek owns a number of rental properties and has an active buy/sell business. He is a licensed general
contractor and a licensed Realtor. He loves complicated deals with lots of moving pieces and
problems to solve.
