Short term rental HOA dues

I'm wondering your thoughts regarding a short term rental investment property that has HOA dues. Is there a sweet spot in terms of price of the dues that you want to be in? Or do you want to avoid HOA dues all together? If you can't avoid the HOA, what would be the max per month? Thanks!
