This is the Sign you are Looking For.
This post is more so an update so I can look back and see how I was doing when I first started pursuing REI. This post is also for those who may be struggling and need a little love today.
I have found a lender and real estate agent. I am also looking for other team members including a handyman, CPA, broker, and attorney. While moving in the right direction I have been researching, reading books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, and Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner. I hope to come up with a solidified plan within a month of how to achieve my 2-year goal.
On a more personal note, I have been reflecting on everything that's going on, and well.. here it is...
If someone had told me that in two years' time I would be completing my masters, be offered my dream job, live openly as a transgender man, and finally make steps towards a long-time interest in real estate investing, I would have laughed in their face. I was lost, confused, and angry at everything and at everyone. I was struggling with depression, anxiety, and undiagnosed ADHD. At times things felt hopeless, that I offered nothing to this world and I never would. I struggled to get out of bed, go to class, or even speak to my roommates.
Anyone who reads this and is thinking that things can not get better and that there is no hope, I get it. I was there. I am living proof that with determination, hope, and constant work, the ability to move, mentally emotionally, physically, and professionally, in a positive direction can be done. Keep going, keep trucking and keep doing the damn thing, because that life you want is not out of reach. You are here for a reason, you are loved, your life matters and most importantly you are not alone.
These past two years have been life-altering and as one chapter ends and another one begins, I cannot wait to see where I am going to be in another two short years. I hope those with who this post resonates know that in two years a lot can happen, don't give up, there is a bright future waiting for you, go get it.
Here's to me and here's to my future.
