Evictions - North Carolina

David Tillack
Posted

Hello,

I have a tenant who is not paying rent and hasn't now for some time... I am curious what options others have thought about or pursued in light of this ever extending eviction memorandum? Am I as a landlord really just having to take the complete loss for the continued extensions of this eviction memorandum, which seems to be likely it'll go until September?

Does anyone know if since landlords are unable to evict tenants who do not pay rent, are we able to write off the lost income on our taxes? Do tenants have to prove they were affected job wise due to COVID in order to have eviction protection?

Just trying to understand what my options are to make light of this situation as landlord... maybe there's nothing but worth a shot in asking anyway.

Thanks,

David T.
