Rental Application Process

Should I get the applicant to include their spouse's income, even if they qualify on their own? Also how do you guys handle income verification for applicants that have their own business. This is my first rental property and it's a single family home. Just trying to ensure that I make the best decision! Thank you all for your insight!

@Michael Pierce I agree with what @Wilson Pun suggested. To verify the income from an applicant that has their own business, asking for tax returns would be a good solution. You could also ask them to provide a three month record of their bank statements.
