Renters’ Credit Score

Clarice Kelly

Hey all! This will be my 1st BP convo. I searched the topic, but most recent that came up was from 2016. How much of a stickler are you about a renter’s credit score these days? Our property is probably in a B or C neighborhood.

Hi, in my C class rentals I look for a 625 credit score. For a solid B class property I'd be looking for 675. I should mention all my properties are multi-family. If I was dealing in single family I'd probably go 25 points higher (650 for C class and 700 for a solid B class).

I do admit I am more of a stickler for higher credit than a lot of other landlords in my markets but I've found being selective to be worth it.
