When did you decide to leave corporate America to full time LL?

Hi folks. I'm at four SFH properties free and clear owned by me. About to purchase another on a HELOC, which will take a year or so to pay off. My question - at what point did you leave the comforts of your full time job with insurance to landlord full time? My goal is to leave my career once the HELOC is paid off and I have enough properties to feel comfortable without being too frugal. And once I leave my career, I won't be acquiring any new properties since the money coming in is for living. What did you do? Have you had any disasters (such as tenants destroying property) that caused you to go back "to work"? What did you do for health insurance?
