SUPER bummed. Maybe I went with the wrong brand?

Rather than carpet, I went with 4mm luxury vinyl planks for 2 of my units. I figured they’ll last longer (cheaper over time), and they’re very durable (so I’m tenant proofing and preventing future maintenance)...

After ONE year and ONE tenant, these floors are toast. Scratched to high hell all over one of the units... other unit is still fine (better tenant), but the whole point of the LVP was to tenant proof even against bad tenants.

Has anyone else had this experience with LVP? Was this an anomaly?

We can HARDEN a unit against a tenant, but nothing is TENANT-PROOF.  (Chuckling) Bless their hearts, these lil critters do find new ways to surprise and disappoint.  

Our flooring formulas: no carpet, no 'floating flooring', no laminate.  Solid vinyl plank glued down--no space for anything getting between the plank and subfloor.  If tenants want carpet, let them get their own large remnants and take their dirt with them when they go!

The only way I know of the keep the surprises of a destructive tenant to a minimum:  inspect the unit on a regular basis.  And we DO NOT allow automotive engine repair to be done in the living room anymore.
