May be a silly question but

I have an applicant, and I explained to her that credit is not focused on, but rental history and criminal background are what we are concerned about (and this is stated on our Qualif. Acknowledgment) and she returned the application with no contact information for either of her two prior rentals (where she lives now and the one right before this one). There are addresses, but no phone numbers.

Would you stop right there? Or try to get the numbers from her to keep checking? I need a renter but it seems like a red flag. So came here to get a reality check.

What would you all do?

I'd ask for a phone number. However, I always try to independently verify the number anyway. Google the apartment name or the phone number, look on google maps at the address, etc. For SFR, look at who she says is the landlord, then look it up on public records and see if the info matches.
