How should I handle tenant leaving "junk" behind?

A tenant left two days ago. He left a bunch of junk by the side of the road. I will have to pay someone to haul it away and take that out of his deposit. However, he also left some stuff by the trailer he used to rent. I can't just call it "trash" and pay someone to haul it away because what if he would claim that it is his property? The stuff by the side of the road is legally trash, but not the stuff he just left. I don't even know if it's trash or not. Technically, it could be used for something. It's a bunch of old wood. If I text him, he will probably say that he's going to come back to get it, but not give me any time frame. At what point can I pay someone to haul this away. I only have 30 days to make a claim on his deposit so I can't wait forever. I certainly don't want to pay to haul it away if I don't have to. It should come out of his deposit if anything. How long do I wait? And I know he's going to say that "he'll come back and get it" without giving me any time frame.
