Collecting rent while house hacking

Hi ya'll.

I'm closing on my first duplex soon and will be house hacking it. Any advice on how to collect rent, and set boundaries, when you live in the same building as your tenant?

Thanks!

You treat it the same as any other rental property. Tenants are not your friends and you must always keep your distance.

Never get into the bad habit of going to collect a tenants rent. Tenants are required to insure their landlord has the rent on time it is not the landlords responsibility to collect.
