Military Rental Home Advice

Hi All,

I am relatively new to BP and am loving all the things I have learned thus far. I am active duty military and am scheduled to move this summer, and am trying to put my current single family home in San Antonio, TX up for rent. It has been on the market for almost 3 weeks now and I have not had a single application. I am working with a property manager and have advertised it on all the military specific moving sites with still no luck. Does anyone have any general advice on getting a home rented and trouble shooting this scenario to minimize vacancy? Is it most likely due to a pricing issue or an advertising issue or both? Appreciate all and any insight! Thanks.

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Generally when the market is this hot for rentals, if it has been sitting that long a price correction may be needed. Doesn't need to be by much usually. You'd be surprised how a $50 deduction can make a property more attractive. Our company policy is to make that correction if the house sits for more than 3 weeks (which is where you are at currently so talk to your PM and see what they think.

Best of luck.
