Room mates & Guarantors

I have two new to the work force room mates who are looking to move into my apartment for rent. Since they both have limited credit history and work experience I'm getting guarantors for both.

I'm going to do background checks on both room mates and on there guarantors. How does it work though if one of them stops paying? Is each person responsible for half the rent or either one if responsible for the total? If I had to go after one of the guarantors for the rent is that person responsible for half the rent or the entire rent? I'm just thinking ahead of time how it would work if I had a problem with one of them or one of them wanted to leave. How would that fall onto the other person? And is each guarantor responsible for just their child and there half of the rent of the entire rent is the responsibility of both room mates/guarentours and whoever they want to split it and send it to me in one check is up to them. I hope this makes sense. I'm a little confused on the issue myself.
