Washer/dryer combo, any particular brand?

Question

I'm getting new washer and dryers for one of my units and was curious if you guys prefer a particular brand? I'm looking at top load washer and standard front load dryer. Something that is more robust than anything. I'm looking for cheap and simple. Any input is greatly appreciated.

P.S.  I've put Roper washers/dryers in rentals (Roper is made by...surprise...Whirlpool) because these are simple work horses, not fancy but also hard for tenants to mess up and they seem to keep chugging along.   They are also frequently on sale at Lowes.

"Any reason why Whirlpool?"   Because those are often on sale.

Also, find out if any of the retailers sell scratch n dent. These are new ones with a couple of imperfections on them which they can't sell on the floor. I usually buy my fridges this way.

I picked up the cheapest set that still looked modern and not damaged. I figure there's no knowing the true history of a set, so if you find one that's 5 years old and works right, chances are good it'll be ok for several more years.

I buy the least expensive ones...typically Roper or Lowes/Home Depot will have a basic Whirlpool on sale.  Some of these have been in my rental houses for the past five or six years and are still working fine.

I know you can probably get them cheaper on places like craigslist but Lowes/Home Depot does free delivery and set up.
