Pets - rents, deposits and fees
I'm considering allowing pets in my rentals but I'm curious what everyone else is charging for monthly pet rent, deposits and/or nonrefundable fees to compensate for the inevitable damage related to the pets.
A few years ago I charge $15 per month for a small Yorkshire terrier and a $500 deposit which could be refundable. And even for that little dog it was still not enough to offset the damages done to carpet, grass, walls, baseboards, and de-fleaing for the two years that they were in the house.
How does everyone else handle the financial side of their leases regarding pets?
