Unfair NSF charges/fee

I have a question. I set up direct debit payments through my property management company for my monthly rent. Rent is due on the 1st and late by the 5th. I’ve never had any issues paying rent on time. However I noticed my account was really low at the end of August, I got paid on the 1st of September. Instead of depositing the money in my cash app account (where my debits are debited from) I figured the more responsible thing to do is walk the payment in personally on the 1st of September. My management company doesn’t dispute this fact, they had the receipt and I have my copy. However, they are passing the NSF fee on to me because they tried to debit my account on 8-31-23. I provided proof of that debit attempt once I received the email about the NSF fee today that must be paid by 10-31-23 or it will be taken out of Novembers rent and if not paid in full then November will incur late fees. My argument is if I’m not responsible for rent until the 1st, and the debit attempt happened on the 31st, why should I incur the NSF fee? The rent was paid in person as soon as the office opened on the 1st. The management company told me that they send in a request for the debit one day before and ask their bank to debit on the 1st. She recommended that I contact cash app. They told me to contact the management company. I don’t know who is responsible for the early debit but I don’t think I should be held accountable for the NSF fee. Can someone shed some light on this matter for me please
