PLUMBING QUESTION FOR RENTERS

Jodi Huff
Posted

So when I moved in to my apartment in 2020, the toilet was EXTREMELY short and I had a very hard time with it, I am 6ft bigger woman for reference. So I talked to the front office, because there was no way that was a standard size, it was almost a child height and even my grandmother had issues with it, and asked for a bigger toilet, to which they told me I had to buy my own and they would install it for me. Well I did buy it $150. Now apparently they received a new loan or something to update ALL the toilets in the complex and other things. I talked to the front office about it and they told me that even though I bought this toilet, which I was perfectly fine with leaving there if I ever moved out, they are still going to replace it and throw out the one I bought. They haven't told me if the one they are replacing it with is the same height or if it's shorter and I don't think it's fair or right to throw out the one I BOUGHT because they TOLD me I'd have to buy if I wanted a taller toilet. So all that to say, is that something they can do? They won't reimburse me or anything and they won't make an exception for mine because it's apart of their loan agreement to replace ALL of the toilets. And they even said its like 3 or 4 other units that bought their own too. Is this right? Can they do that?
