Removing collections from credit report?

I’ve been abroad due to medical reasons. The reason why I did it abroad is because it was cheaper and I had no insurance in the states. I have EU insurance and it was practically free.

However, while doing all this the last thing on my mind was my bills in the US. I was under doctors care for about 7 months.

I see about 4 cards went into collections. Only credit cards. No car payments or mortgage as my rentals took care of this. I meant to put my cards on auto payments; however, by not doing so, I got myself into this bubble.

Would getting a letter from a doctor be of any help in getting these removed from my credit report or am I stuck with them now?

If not, what would be my best course of action with a pay for delete?

Kind regards
