Florida west coast

I'm interested in investment opportunities on the Florida west coast. I'm planning a trip down there soon and doing a whirlwind tour from Naples up through Tampa. I'm not really looking at specific properties on this trip but rather general areas. Between those two cities, what are some specific areas that I should check out that have investment potential? I'm looking for SFRs or possible small apartment complexes. Suggestions for where to look and areas to avoid would be appreciated.

I would avoid cheap houses near the water. Your profit margins will be eaten by flood insurance. I know from your posts that you dislike warzones so I will speak for what I know of Clearwater and St. Pete. Steer clear of the Greenwood and Bellevue neighborhoods of Clearwater and try to keep it north of 3rd ave South in St Pete. Other than that you may just want to hook up with people that know specific areas, let them know your criteria and see if they can't point you in the right direction.
