Hello, new here, excited to learn and meet new people with experience and like minded goals! Me and my Wife purchased 2 properties out of state this year, finished renovations, and are about to go through the motions of advertising for and screening tenants. That being said would love to hear if anyone has a real estate Lawyer they recommend to writ up the lease agreements.
Hey there @Devin Daly! Where did you end up buying rentalst? A great starting point might be to check with your real estate agent—if they’re also an investor, they likely have a solid network and could recommend a trustworthy real estate lawyer who understands investment properties in Missouri. Feel free to reach out if you need direct resources, I can send you some templates, as well as refer over a couple of attorneys contact info for you. I’d be happy to connect and help however I can. Good luck!
Hi Gary, one property is in Ferguson, the other is in Country Club Hills. That would be great! I would love those templates as well as those contacts. The agent I used is not an investor but I will reach out to him as well, he might be reluctant just because I was originally going to use his company for property management but due to delayed responses I have chosen to do a hybrid property management approach with myself and the contractor/project manager who has been dealing with the property and city hall, occupancy inspections and such.
@Devin Daly I wouldn't depend on an attorney to write a GREAT lease.
They will definitely create one that complies with all laws, but will not cover many other issues:(
Our lease from an attorney started at 8 pages - it is now over 20 pages!
Recommend you find as many examples of leases you can, read them CAREFULLY to understand why everything is there, and then copy and paste to create YOUR lease.
