Lawyer & CPA - First Rental Property
Hello,
We are in search of a lawyer and CPA in the Dallas area that specializes in helping investors. This is our first rental property and we want to ensure that we have all of our ducks in a row. For the lawyer, we have specific questions around egress laws as it pertains to windows per bedroom (our rental currently only has one window that opens).

Might try @Ronald Rohde or @Jerel Ehlert who are both Texas attorneys and have assisted plenty of BP investors. Let us know what you find out. Haven't ever heard anyone concerned with that before, but never hurts to ask. Seems like every 100 year old house I go to with all the original wood frame windows are painted shut. Egress probably by breaking the glass. Seems like there are some 1950-60s houses around with very high windows in the bedrooms. Those might be tough to go in/out of in the case of emergency. Probably new/newer building codes require certain sized windows so that fireperson with tank on could potentially transverse them, but not sure when that changed or which cities have adopted that. Might check with your insurance company too.
