STR logging tax and licenses

Jeremy Wenck
Posted

Hello,

I'm in the process of purchasing my first STR and had a question for some of the experienced STR people out there.

Airbnb states they will collect lodging/occupancy taxes on your behalf and pay them to the city, state etc. However I heard a lot of people use Avalara and they not only collect the taxes but takes care of all licenses on your behalf as well.

Question is does Airbnb do the same thing? I don’t think it makes sense to pay Avalara if Airbnb is already doing it but if Avalara takes care of all the licenses you need for the city, county, state then should I pay for it as well?
