Self-Directed HSA - Tax and Other Questions

Have any of your self-directed a HSA? I am assuming the rules/structure is pretty much the same as a SDIRA, but I wanted to make sure. Are there material differences?

Assuming the money inside of the HSA grows significantly how would one go about monetizing it without significant health problems? Is there an age where the funds can be pulled out without tax penalties?
