Value assessment appeal for taxes
Hi all - new to the BP community here!
I’m currently house hacking and have a long term rental in Colorado and houses in my county were re-assessed using data from 6/1/20 through 6/30/22 when prices were at their peak. My property values went up about $200k, and there was about a 38% increase in property taxes in my county.
I’ve talked to others in my area who advised appealing the new value with other comps in the area (others have found houses were/are selling for less than the assessed values). Have others done this/do you think there is value in doing so? Interested to hear if appeals have even been successful for others or not worth the effort.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Alyssa
