What's up with these lenders?

Screwing up paperwork, sending me somebody else's loan application to sign! Taking a week off right after they were suppose to be getting "in touch" with you...etc. Are they just loaded down with more loans they can efficiently handle? Do they even care about doing your loan?

Any tips on "keeping tabs" on a loan without coming across like a jerk?
