Investing around Albany, NY

Hello, I am beginner in the real estate game and I am looking to invest in multifamily properties in the capital region. I was looking at properties in Schenectady and Troy, NY but I am not too familiar with the region. Does anybody know if its worth investing these areas? If not, where should I be looking? 

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
