Need help getting pointed in the right direction
Good morning REI gurus. I'm fairly new to the site and REI but wanted to ask for some insight.
A friend and I are looking at purchasing an investment property in Houston Texas (where my friend currently resides). I live in Georgia. I also want to purchase my own property in my hometown later this year (either a multi family or condo/residential) to live in. My friend is aware and okay with my personal investment opportunities. My friend is also very good with managing a business and I am providing the money for down payments and potentially financing. We have numerous options for financing but don't know which to take/works best for our venture (VA, FHA, traditional).
My question(s) are;
Which financing option is recommended for a partnership?
Does my name have to be on both purchases and how would a lender look at two purchases within six months in regards to DTI etc?
Has anyone had any experience with a live in manager/partner (my partner wants to live in the Houston property and pay me appropriately for tenancy)?
How do you file taxes on an out of state property that is part of a partnership?
