"Fixers" by John T Reed?

Question

I was reading Reed's review of Buy it Fix it Sell it, and he pointed out some flaws in the book and said his one was better. I'm interested in getting it, has anyone read his books?

What are you hoping to get from a book?  There is no one book out there that is going to give you some magic bullet, you need to read a lot of them and learn what you can from each.  There is still no substitute for real-world experience, books can help but you will learn the most from actually doing a project.

I don't know.  He makes alot of sense and certainly seems to understand that an investor should set realistic goals for owning real estate.  There was Fortune or some other major profile on him several years back.  They certainly felt he was knowledgeable and passed the "smell" test.

I'm sick of going to real estate investment club meetings where gurus who look like contractors are charging newbies for know how about real estate. It's pitiful.  When you ask a question, the leader encourages you to go to the breakfast meetings where everyone experienced should meet and discuss things.  Doesn't often pass the "smell" test.  Just a ripoff.
