Interest rates move how, exactly...?

Can anyone give us newbies a complete explanation of the forces that make interest rates move? I understand they're based in the bond markets, but if I knew more about how the related bond prices worked, which ones were related, etc., it might give some insight as to what is going on in the marketplace. Leading to the ability to make educated guesses as to what to expect in the future. If anyone can please shed some light on the subject it would be appreciated.
