Living abroad and Investing

Vivian Belle
Posted

Hi all, I'm an American living in Germany.  Real estate has now peaked my interest and I want to buy in North Carolina and I might be open to other hot markets. I haven't had a full-time employment for a while but I have money saved up to buy a property or two.

Is anyone here living abroad also or know anyone living abroad that is not physically buying properties in the USA but abroad? I'd love to start my networking and also understand the tax complications of buying property while abroad.

also FYI - my husband and I are looking to move to the USA at one point but most likely in 2026. Should we wait until we move to the states or start the process now?

Thank you!
