Eat the Rich-Netflix Series and Gamestop

Last night I watched the short series on Netflix about the Redditt investors taking on Wall Street through buying Gamestop. I remember when this was going on and just thought how wild it was. They interviewed investors from Reddit and the reoccurring theme was they wanted to stick it to Wall Street. They all remembered what happened to their families in 2008 and how they suffered so much, and Wall Street suffered so little in comparison.  However, what they found out is that by just participating in the market, SPOILER ALERT, they were helping out Wall Street.

So, if you want to really hurt Wall Street and the Hedge Funds, BUY REAL ESTATE! That doesn't mean to just buy stuff up just cause someone on the internet told you too, like Gamestop. What it does mean is take your money out of the stock market, out of your IRA's and 401K's, and use that money to buy property and have reserves. Think about how many properties you could own with that money and have reserves for vacancy, repairs, capex, etc. Will there be penalties, probably, but in the end, you will be better off financially in the long run, in my opinion. Plus, you will feel better about having your money secured by a physical asset and not controlled by someone hundreds and thousands of miles away.

Also, when you purchase stock who does it affect? You and Wall Street. When you buy real estate, it affects your neighbor, your town, the small business owner, the local tradesmen, the attorneys, the agents, the local banks, it helps almost everyone in the town you invest in. So, if you are one of these reddit investors and want to see Wall Street burn, take your money out and invest on Main Street.
