New to REI and Upstate NY
Hi my name is Kendricks and I have just began my journey in looking for Real Estate Investing opportunities. I am almost 23 years old and I was hoping for advice on where I should start to get into real estate investing. I have gotten a number of different books and I have basic understanding of how it all works but every book I have come across mentions that I need a mentor in some way or another. They also say "know your market" and I am not completely sure how to figure out what the market is in my particular area. I guess I am just wondering what my next steps should be and how to figure out the market in the area that I am in? Any advice will help and thank you in advance!

It does not matter where you start as long as you develop your Core 4. The core 4 is David Greene’s long-distance investing strategy and consists of a realtor, contractor, property manager, and lender. Once you have this team in place, you should be able to invest in any market confidently.
As for picking a specific market - I would go after one with an increasing job and population growth. I invest and work in Columbus, Ohio. I am also looking to invest in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
