ADVICE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE PROPERTY

My grandfather is 85 has a bilevel home he had built that is free of mortgage.

He has been getting door to door offers to sell — as is — for very low offers as the home is 70 years old and needs repair.

In effort to not have him sell his house and lose a family property. I want to make a proposal to purchase the home from him with a refinance goal which gives him cash in hand that he so desperately wants.

I would buy the house and take the equity out of the home to renovate and update. Is this process as easy as it seems? Also I just would line advice of what anyone would do in this situation. I want my grandparents to be content with their later lives and not regretting a house that they don’t understand all the possibilities they are afforded as home owners.
