Building New Construction - Need help with GCs
recently moved to NJ and my 1st post, but i will put my heart out :).
i have some experience being landlord, but now i am looking to build, my new home. nothing fancy and dont worry, not asking for price/sq. ft questions.
i am in very early stage, considering land and looking for GCs, thinking of being the GC myself etc.
Anyone with experience in NJ ? (in morex , essex and/or somerset counties ?)
Any specific books that would be a good read ?
Any builders or builder recommendations ?
Thanks,
Sam

So far i am leaning towards being the GC myself (with no experience). However, not sure if that would create any financing issues.
If you're going to be looking for a construction loan, the lender will almost certainly require you to work with a licensed GC. If you don't have much/any construction experience, I think it's a good idea anyway.
