Where to find contractors

Question

I am just curious, Has anyone ever found a contractor via Facebook? Everyone tells me phone books are dead. But, I never seen any posts about how wonderful a certain contractor may be, especially in the last 4 years. I still use the phone book, both physical and online version.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I wish I could reply with thanks to each one individually but I haven't learned how to do that yet. I am wrapping up my renovation this spring and will be launching my Home Inspection business soon after. So I will definitely put what I learned here into practice. I will also benefit from all my lessons learned on the next renovation. It is always good to hear opinions other than your own, so I really appreciate your insights.

Facebook has been my go to for customers. Nowadays, older people are using Facebook more often. I’ve slimmed down my customer group to 45+ and single women.

I’ve thrown up 1 ad I run continuously for 5 dollars a day, I’ll get 1-2 customers every 3 days calling me for a quote. I’ve grossed over 40k in 4 months with this method.

Word of mouth is the best way to find good contractors. I own a plumbing business and spend very little on advertising.

Facebook is a great place to market to specific demographics. living in a tight knit community, theres alot of local private groups where people are always asking for contractors. The best part of that is the people recommend us, we dont even have to spend any money to place any ads. Google Mybussiness has also been excellent.

I'd say join a local FB group in your community because people are constantly referring contractors there.

Most full time Real Estate agents know the contractors, handyman.

They are always using them for the inspection punch list and referring them out to clients.

The RE also sell a few homes to investors and the investors know the contractors!
