Handling with contractor quotes

Hello.

On every book that I read of bBiggerPockets it says that you need to do a scope of work with tasks and divide the cost of every task for labor and materials.

But then I got a property and started to look for a good contractor, I had some congestion with some in which they were didn’t mind to bring me a divided estimate for labor and materials.

But none of them felt right to me, personally and expert wise.

But then I got a referral from a plumber and came this contractor.

He sounds the perfect guy that u need need, he was expert, knew how investor is thinking, kinda Bush even in these winter times but one thing was something that I didn’t like abs is the estimate.

In the estimate he wrote all the tasks in one paragraph and write at the a one bulk number.

When u asked him to divide me that into labor and materials, he didn’t want to do it for me saying: “I came predict what the labor and materials would be now. After week 1, we can discuss and see how much I spend exactly, and then you will now “.

I was shocked that just was declining to give me a divided estimate to labor abs cost, but his expertise and knowledge just told me that I should go with him.

He basically got a good point that we will know the exact number after every week (finished weekly job)

So how are handling estimates from your contractors? Did you encounter with contractors that didn’t want to give a divided estimate?
