ADUs for mutifamily in Los Angeles

Posted

I am trying to get a clear understanding of if/how I can add an ADU to a triplex I own in Los Angeles just outside of Highland Park. Clear I can do it on a SFR but not positive I can do so for multifamily. Is there anyone out there who knows their way around ADUs in Los Angeles?

    @Daniel Johnson

    You can add an ADU on it in LA city. We are doing it on a duplex right now. If you have a garage that's where most of us are going for creating an ADU on the property. Although the city has some say the laws passed by the state overrule a majority of what the cities want, but LA city has been pretty good about getting everything moving.

    So if you have that garage, or lot size to justify it then you should be good. The laws also increase lot coverage and pushed back setbacks
