How much is pest control for your building??

Question

Properties I have there is no pest control in place.

The place is 5 buildings with 20 units.What do you think would be a typical monthly fee for service??

I am looking for a company but want to know pricing so as to not overpay.

You can get quotes from $.75 per door to $10 per door.  You should not need service for every door, every month.  Hitting each door once a quarter usually suffices.  I would think $50 per month to hit 8 apts would be about right.

Spraying I have heard does not work with roaches. Mint around the building is supposed to help keep ants out of the building. Roaches need the bait to kill them.

There is a theory that planting mint all around the foundation repels bugs.

I just bought a building that had been sprayed monthly for a while and one of the first floor units still had a lot of cockroaches.  I cancelled the service.  I also have a lingering worry that the monthly application will just wind up breeding hardy groups of resistant pests.

If concerned about roaches, you can buy a tube of roach bait. One drop under the counter by the kitchen and bathroom sinks, under the stove & refrigerator at least every 3 months and you should have no problems. Worked well when we had apartments. Tenant education to keep the floors dry and wet clothes off of the floor helps also.

Hi Joel,

We have a bunch of quads so when one unit calls in a complaint we treat all four units. Found a company down the street that will do them at $20/door. This includes coming back in a couple of weeks if necessary to get the babies.

So far this "as-needed" approach has saved us money over a maintenance contract.

General pest control cost will vary and depends heavily on square footage of the property. Whats the square footage of each of the buildings?
