Can anyone give some advice when it comes to foreclosures?

I'm currently starting to save up money for my first real estate investment. I'm trying to learn as much a possible about everything before I make the dive. I feel I'm decently knowledgeable about the general market, but I'm clueless when it comes to how to analyze foreclosures. What is the best process a new investor could do when looking into a foreclosure or should I just stay clear of them in general?
