New world for commercial real estate?

I keep reading articles about how companies are changing their plans to accommodate the, now common, desire to work from home. It seems this will have a huge impact on commercial real estate, which I would think could lead to some opportunities but I can't figure out what! The large corporation I used to work for has about 6 large buildings and I don't see how they can possibly continue to support that. Just wondering from those in the commercial space what you see happening.

Quote from @Scott E.:

I'm not seeing any uptick in office inventory in my market yet, but I'm watching closely. I agree there should be some opportunities on the horizon. And when they come, I'm going to look for rezoning potential (conversion to apartments, retail, etc).

Bingo. I have a feeling a lot of this unused space will be rezoned and you will see many conversions to multi family. Its the logical next step with housing shortages. Big opportunity for people with foresight. You can bet the big investors/hedge funds are salivating all over this opportunity already.
