DFW - Duplex Land Survey

Hi everyone I may have my first duplex deal in northern Dallas. The seller countered with a asking that we pay for a land survey, the house looks in great condition, but would you still have someone come out to check the roof and foundation the first day of option? And does anyone know what the land survey is (first time its been sold) and who I can go to to get one?

Hey Ross,

So a land Surveyor will come out and Mark the corners of a property. They are typically only used in boundary disputes, like if your neighbor builds his shed, and you think he built it on your property. They usually work for private companies and a google search should pull up plenty to choose from. They are very different than a home inspector, who will go through all structures on the property and notify you if you will need to repair things like, the foundation, replace the roof, or if there is an outdated electrical system, among countless other things you will want to know about. If you have anymore questions just DM me.
