Foreclosures on HUD homes

I'm a relatively new investor in the Chicago area and am a bit unfamiliar with purchasing a foreclosed property. I started looking into HUD homes and found the hudhomestore.com website to be an interesting resource. Does anybody here have some insight into flipping HUD homes? More specifically what is the average time it takes to purchase a foreclosed HUD home as opposed to a regular foreclosure?
