Wife is not on board... yet.
I have always liked the idea of rental properties, but always thought it was out of my league. To make money, you must have money mentality. A couple months ago I stumbled onto Bigger Pockets via YouTube. I am hooked. I want to get started ASAP, but I have 2 problems; I am deployed in Iraq until August, and my wife is very conservative.
The deployment is a frustrating blessing due to the money I've managed to save, about $40,000. I now understand that money isn't necessarily needed to start, but it sure could help. I am an engineer and also have an OK job at home and great credit. I just need to continue to be patient and continue to learn. August will come.
My biggest challenge will be to get my wife on board. I've encouraged here to read Rich Dad Poor Dad, but she doesnt want to. She wants to move soon, so I suggested buying a fixer upper and doing a BRRR on it. I purposefully put only 3 Rs because we will live in it. She would rather pay the premium for a pretty house.
Has anybody else dealt with, and overcome this issue? What should I do?

First, Thank you for your service!
I have said this a few times when people ask for relationship advice.. either you will grow together, or you will grow apart, or worst stay the same.
My girlfriend, and mother of my soon to be child, hated what I did at first. She hated that I was so frugal. She hated that I was always working around the clock. She hated how I didn't want to take vacations or go to fancy restaurants. But I had to do all those things to obtain the things I wanted when it came to REI. Now, since doing all that despite how she felt, she's on board.
Actions speak louder than words. Show her, don't tell her.
