Digging into short sale property

I am going to look at a short sale property in the Chicago suburbs in a few days and in trying to dig up more information there is nothing yet listed on the short sale/forclosure website.  I've been researching short sales the past few days because of this, but there is a lot to figure out and I think the best way is going to just be learning along the way should I proceed further into this potential deal. Any advice on what to ask, look for, or negotiate in order to determine if this is an opportunity worth pursuing?
