Rent vs Buying your own property

So I was watching a video of Grant Cardone recently and he advised against buying your own home. Instead, he prefers renting the placeyoudecide to take up residence. He basically advices against it because its money thatjust sits there and doesn't grow. That's obviously a tough one to swallow. Never actually owning the residence you and your family reside at? I've personally never heard anybody advice that before. I find it very interesting. I mean the mans a millionaire and he knows what he's speaking about. I'm sure people have conflicting opinions on this one. What's your thoughts?

I've made all most of my long term savings just on buying and selling my personal residences.  I bought, lived, sold for profit.  Over and over.  Probably made about 250,000 tax free just by doing that over the past 20 years.  I would have had  to live somewhere, and its always been cheaper to buy than rent in my experience.

Plus you learn all the maintenance tasks and acquire tools to save you money.

So that's my take, buy your personal residence.
