My Home Insurance company messed up!
Hello,
Our duplex is insured as a single family home. The insurance inspector did not catch it so we saved some money. However, my question is if we need to file a claim in the future, will we be denied because this is a duplex and not a single family home. If that's the case then I need to switch now.
Thanks.

This isn't the sort of thing an insurance inspector is looking for. If they actually look at a property, they're looking for thing like roof condition. Duplex vs. SFR is based on information you provide to them. Yes, you need to fix this ASAP. Further, do you have landlord insurance or homeowners? If you have tenants in a property and only homeowners insurance they will be quick to deny claims in general.
