I'm 18 and seeking your wisdom!

I've been interested in real estate investing for about a year now. Reading books, watching YouTube videos, and spending some time here on BP. I've learned a lot of valuable information but I'm still hesitant and unsure on how to start up. I guess what I want to know from some of you older/wiser investors out there is, what would be your first steps if you were in my position? You're 18 years old living in Houston Texas, about $1000 in your bank account, and you're ready to take some sort of action other than watching videos and reading on REI. I appreciate any feedback and thank you for your time. -Maliko
